Jump Cut

An abrupt transition from one scene to another.

In Depth

A jump cut occurs when two shots of the same subject are taken from camera positions that vary only slightly. It gives the effect of jumping forward in time, often used to show a frantic state or condensation of time.

Example

"YouTube vloggers often use jump cuts to remove pauses and silences from their monologue."
