1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to VidScio ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our website (www.vidscio.com), browser extension, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any modifications.

2. Description of Service

VidScio is a browser extension and web application that uses artificial intelligence to identify movies and TV shows from web content, including YouTube videos, descriptions, and comments. The Service provides:

  • AI-powered movie and TV show identification
  • Movie details and metadata display
  • Personal watchlist management
  • Cross-device synchronization (for registered users)

The Service is currently offered free of charge, may be operated as a personal project, and is subject to change, suspension, or discontinuation at any time without prior notice. Features described here are illustrative and not a guarantee.

3. User Accounts

Some features of our Service require you to create an account using Google Sign-In. When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Attempt to circumvent any security measures or access restrictions
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service without authorization
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or other malicious code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
  • Abuse, harass, or harm other users
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract source code or underlying models
  • Use outputs from the Service to build or train a competing product or AI model
  • Bypass or overwhelm rate limits, caching, or authentication mechanisms
  • Upload, share, or request abusive content that violates any third-party platform policies

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by VidScio and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Movie Data: Movie and TV show information displayed through our Service (titles, posters, ratings, cast, plot summaries, etc.) is sourced from third-party databases such as OMDB, IMDb, and Rotten Tomatoes. This data is provided for informational purposes only, and all rights belong to their respective owners.

User Content: You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (such as watchlist items). By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, store, and process your content solely for providing the Service.

You agree to comply with any license terms that apply to the third-party data we display. You may not copy, resell, or republish metadata from OMDB, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, or other sources accessed through the Service except for your personal, non-commercial use. Third-party providers may revoke access at any time, and your continued use is conditional upon their terms.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

IMPORTANT NOTICE

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.

AI Accuracy: VidScio uses artificial intelligence models to identify movies and TV shows. We do not guarantee that:

  • AI identifications will be accurate, complete, or reliable
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Results will meet your specific requirements or expectations
  • Any errors in the Service will be corrected

You acknowledge that AI models can and do make mistakes, and you agree to verify any critical information independently before relying on it.

The Service is not intended for medical, legal, safety-critical, or other high-risk decision making. We make no guarantees regarding data storage duration, and you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important information such as watchlists.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL VIDSCIO, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

  • Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
  • Damages resulting from any third-party conduct or content
  • Damages resulting from errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated results

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater. We are not liable for data deletions or service interruptions caused by third-party providers or force majeure events.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations only apply to the extent permitted by law, and your statutory rights remain unaffected.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VidScio and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any content you submit through the Service

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with and relies on third-party services including:

  • Google Sign-In (for authentication)
  • AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI, DeepSeek) for content analysis
  • OMDB API for movie metadata
  • Supabase for backend services

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or reliability of these third-party services. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.

Notice & Takedown

If you believe content surfaced through the Service infringes your rights, please email vidscio.app@gmail.com with the URL, a description of the content, the rights you claim, and your contact information. We review good-faith notices promptly and may disable access or remove material at our discretion.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
  • You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us
  • Provisions of these Terms that should survive termination will remain in effect

Upon termination we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, subject to residual backups and legal obligations. Cached identification results may remain for up to 90 days for fraud prevention before being purged.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable laws.

Consumers located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other regions with mandatory consumer protection laws retain all non-waivable rights, and may bring claims in the courts of their habitual residence where required by local law.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.

13. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically. By continuing to access or use our Service after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
